CLIMATE
It has a Mediterranean climate, i.e. warm and rainy in winter, hot and dry in summer. Average annual rainfall days are 75. 66 % of this rainfall is in winter, 16 % in autumn, 16 % in spring and 2 % in summer. A record maximum temperature is 44º Centigrade, the lowest is -7º… though in most days of summer the temperature rises over 30ºC above zero. Ð cool breeze blowing towards the City makes you feel refreshed in the afternoon.Ð soft-wind locally called “Dokkun”, blowing from the west towards the sea, has the same effect at night. Those special winds of this area cause avalanches which are extremely useful for the agriculture. The temperature drops the freezing point very rarely. The average heat of the sea-water is 22ºC. This becomes 18ºC in February and March, and 28ºC, 29ºC in July, August and September.
