LATE PERIOD OF THE CITY (foreground), and CITY – GATES
Those gates are the main portals into the City. They were built with huge colossal stones. A supporting wall has been added to it in the middle in order to prevent its collapsing into ruins.
As seen above from the outside it is consisted of two cylindrical towers, and is the most majestic sight of Perge. The inner sight of the structure, which is about 15 meters high, is more spectacular and imposing. It is a conjecture that this part of the structure was decorated with statues and used as a meeting saloon in the Roman Period.
