THE TOPLESS MINARET

When you go forward from the right of the City Park, you come across the minaret named as mentioned because of its formation. It belongs to the Seljuk Period. On the right of it you see some ruins of an ancient building, first used as a temple in the second Century A.D., and then as a basilica with three balconies made from the previous stones in the 5th Century A.D., and lastly as a mosque named “Ulucami” or “Cumain Cami” now, specially interior decoration of marble – work, as seen here, is one of the valuable and perfect Christian art.

The statue of the Great Saviour and the Founder of the Modern Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, on the back of a horse is situated hereabout.
